New Delhi: Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has a hamstring strain and is no longer scheduled to play in the fourth and final Test against Australia at the Gabba ground in Brisbane from Friday. Bumrah appeared to be holding his stomach after the drawn third Test in Sydney on Monday and was then scanned for the stretch. In such a situation, there is speculation that he will not play in the fourth Test.
But a BCCI official told IANS that there was no confirmation of Bumrah being available. He said, “It has not been confirmed yet. The Indian team has reached Brisbane on Tuesday afternoon and will now assess the injury of their injured players. Bumrah still has three days left to be fit till the fourth Test.” .
If Bumrah is not fit till the Brisbane Test, it will be a big blow for the Indian team as experienced fast bowlers Mohammed Shami, Umesh Yadav and Ishant Sharma have already been ruled out of the Test series. Ishant did not travel to Australia due to injury. Bumrah has bowled 117.4 overs in the Test series so far. At the end of last year, he had to stay away from cricket for some time due to back pain and he returned to cricket in January 2020.
