Rohit has practiced a lot with the pink ball after reaching Australia, but match practice has a different importance in front of good fast bowlers. Especially when India played its last pink ball test match in March 2022. Gill also could not play in the first Test match due to a finger injury and it is almost certain that he will play in the second Test match.
Rohit and Gill are expected to be included in the playing eleven in place of Devdutt Padikkal and Dhruv Jurel. Both these batsmen will now hope for clear weather on Sunday so that they can get some chance for match practice with the pink ball.
India has so far played four test matches with the pink ball. After winning over Bangladesh (2019, Kolkata), India lost to Australia in Adelaide in 2020. After this, however, it registered wins against England (2021, Ahmedabad) and Sri Lanka (2022, Bengaluru) on home soil.
