IND vs BAN: Why did UPCA deploy langurs for the safety of spectators and players in Kanpur Test?

Delhi: Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) has taken the help of langurs to deal with the monkey menace during the ongoing second Test match between India and Bangladesh at the Green Park Stadium. This step has been taken to protect the fans, stadium personnel and the broadcast team from monkeys who may enter the stadium in search of food and create chaos.

Before the start of the match, venue director Sanjay Kapoor said while talking to the media, “We have deployed langurs to avoid the terror of monkeys.”

The use of langurs to deal with monkeys is not a new thing in Kanpur city. Even before this, the presence of langurs during international matches on this ground has been successful. The UPCA has also taken several other measures to prevent monkeys from entering the stands, such as covering the high stands where television crews set up their cameras with black cloth. Due to this, monkeys are not able to enter inside the stand, due to which the broadcasting team remains safe. Monkeys have been deployed in different parts of the stadium, so that the monkey menace can be controlled.

Talking about the match, by the end of the first day's play, Bangladesh had scored 107 runs for 3 wickets in their first innings. Mominul Haq is unbeaten on 40* and wicketkeeper batsman Mushfkur Rahim is unbeaten on 28*. India dominated the morning session as the pitch provided ample support to the fast bowlers. Bangladesh batsmen will now have to play patiently and put the team in a strong position.

At the same time, due to bad light and rain, only 35 overs could be played in the whole day, due to which the first day's play was stopped.
