India Media Market: We can enjoy entertainment at home or anywhere. The size of the domestic entertainment and media industry is projected to grow to $47.2 billion by 2029, from $32.2 billion in 2024. It is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 7.8 percent over the next four years, compared to the global average of 4.2 percent.
A report by PwC India states that this growth is driven by increasing digital participation, increasing broadband penetration and increased consumption of online content. These factors are changing audience behavior across formats and creating opportunities for platforms, advertisers and creators.

Fastest Growth in Internet Advertising Internet advertising is the fastest growing segment. It is projected to grow by 15.9 percent to reach $13.06 billion by 2029, from $6.25 billion in 2024. Over-the-top (OTT) based revenue is projected to grow from $2.27 billion in 2024 to $3.47 billion in 2029. It will be supported by regional content, direct-to-consumer models and growing subscribers.
According to the report, we are at a point where technology, especially artificial intelligence (AI), is truly changing how content is created, discovered and monetized. Internet usage is increasing in the country. The number of internet subscribers has increased from 100.28 crore in the April-June quarter to 101.78 crore in the September quarter.
