Indian players surrender after winning T20 World Cup
Chennai, 12 March 2026: India has captured the title for the third time by defeating New Zealand by 96 runs in the final of T20 World Cup 2026. After this grand victory, there is an atmosphere of celebration in the entire country, when Team India’s two star players Washington Sundar and Varun Chakraborty went to Lord Shiva to fulfill their vow. Both these players had completed the 14 kilometer circumambulation of Arunachal Lake in Tiruvannamalai on bare feet.
According to religious belief, Arunachala Takri is considered to be the physical form of Lord Shiva and a symbol of the flame of fire. According to the Puranas, to remove the ego of Brahma and Vishnu, Shiva took the form of a pillar of infinite fire, which later became stable in the form of a hill. There is a belief that by circling here with bare feet, sins are destroyed and wishes are fulfilled. Fulfilling their wish of winning the World Cup, both these players were seen engrossed in devotion, the video of which has gone viral on social media.
In the T20 World Cup, Chakraborty took 14 wickets in 9 matches of the tournament, but he proved expensive (economy rate 10). Due to this his ranking has also decreased. Whereas Washington Sundar got a chance to play only two matches, in which he could not take any wicket. Due to the brilliant performance of Sanju Samson and Jasprit Bumrah, India created history by winning one-sided victory against New Zealand.
