Indian Premier League 2025 from 14 March to 25 May

NEW DELHI New Delhi: The BCCI has told IPL franchises that next year's Indian Premier League will be held from March 14 to May 25, with similar dates fixed for the 2026 and 2027 editions as part of a detailed plan. The BCCI has also decided to include injured England fast bowler Joffra Archer, Indian-origin American fast bowler Saurabh Netwalkar and Mumbai's uncapped wicketkeeper-batsman Hardik Tamor in the two-day mega player auction to be held in Jeddah from Sunday. .

In its message sent to the franchises, the board has said that the dates for the next three seasons are being shared together to “assist the franchises in planning for the player auction.” The 2026 edition of the tournament begins on March 15 and the grand finale is scheduled for May 31. The 2027 edition will once again begin on 14 March and conclude with the final on 30 May. All three finals will be held on Sunday. The BCCI had planned to increase the number of matches in the IPL to ensure that it lasts for one and a half weeks and looking at the windows set aside, it seems that the number of games in the league will increase. Archer did not feature in the IPL this year and his performance in the 2023 edition was curtailed due to an elbow injury.

Netrawalkar was one of the breakout stars of the T20 World Cup in the USA earlier this year, putting in impressive performances that were crucial in his team advancing to the Super 8s. The former India Under-19 player, who also played for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy, moved to the USA to pursue computer engineering and is currently working at Oracle. His exclusion from the auction list at the expense of Unmukt Chand, another player who went to the US from India, had raised eyebrows as Chand was not part of the US team in the T20 World Cup.
