IndiGo Crisis: More than 200 flights canceled even today, government said – number of IndiGo routes will decrease, officers deployed at 10 airports

New Delhi. IndiGo’s operational crisis continues for the eighth day. The airline has canceled around 180 flights from Bengaluru and Hyderabad on Tuesday. More than 230 flights have been canceled across the country. This information has been given by sources. Sources said Indigo is not operating 58 flights to Hyderabad on Tuesday. These include 14 arrival and 44 departure flights. He said the number of canceled flights from Bengaluru airport is 121, which includes 58 arrival and 63 departure flights.

Meanwhile, IndiGo may lose some routes to other domestic airlines in the current winter schedule. Aviation Minister K. Ram Mohan Naidu said that the government will definitely reduce the slots of IndiGo. The Rahul Bhatia-led airline operates over 2,200 flights daily from over 90 domestic and 40 international destinations. “We will definitely reduce the number of routes in IndiGo’s (winter) schedule,” Naidu said on Monday. An order will be issued in this regard. This will be a kind of penalty for the airline as they will not be able to fly on those (reduced) routes.

He said that the routes of IndiGo which will be reduced from the time-table will be given to other airlines. He also said that they would be given back to IndiGo once the airline shows the capability to operate them. The Gurugram-based airline handles more than 65 per cent of India’s total domestic traffic. The airline had canceled more than 560 flights from just six metro airports on Monday.

In view of the large-scale disruptions at airports due to IndiGo, the Aviation Ministry has ordered Deputy Secretary, Director and Joint Secretary level officials of the Ministry to personally visit all major airports in the coming days and fully assess the situation there. These airports include the airports of Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Pune, Guwahati, Goa, Thiruvananthapuram.

Bangalore Airport: 121 flights cancelled.

Bangalore’s Kempegowda International Airport Limited (KIAL) informed that 58 arrival and 63 departure flights of IndiGo have been canceled for today. The next update will be shared at 6 pm.

41 flights canceled from Chennai airport

18 departure and 23 arrival flights of IndiGo have been canceled at Chennai airport.

IndiGo passengers are stranded at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport due to flight disruptions and flight cancellations.

16 flights canceled at Ahmedabad airport

16 IndiGo flights have been canceled at Ahmedabad airport. These include nine arrival and seven departure flights. A total of 23 flights operated till 8 am, including seven arrival and 16 departure flights. The airport said there were no problems with the terminal and runway. The facilities of the passengers are being taken care of.

Passenger said- I had to wait for 12 hours

A passenger at Ahmedabad Airport said, I had to go to Chennai and I had booked a return flight. There was no problem while returning, but while leaving, my flight was scheduled for 2 pm on 9th December. I got a message that it had been rescheduled for 9 pm. Now I have to wait here for 12 hours. I have been trying on the helpline for two days, but did not get a satisfactory response.
