Central Jakarta police chief Susatyo Purnomo Kondro said the fire started on the first floor and then spread to the upper floors. Many employees of Terra Drone Indonesia were on their lunch break when the fire broke out, while some had already left the office. Footage shown on Kompas TV showed firefighters carrying bags of bodies from the building while they tried to bring people down from upper floors using portable ladders.
The building houses Terra Drone Indonesia, which provides drones for aerial surveys in a variety of sectors, from mining to agriculture. This company is the Indonesian unit of Japan’s Terra Drone Corporation.
