New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday spoke to Philippines President Ferdinand Marcos Jr over phone and congratulated him on being elected as the 17th President of the Philippines.
According to a release from the Prime Minister’s Office, the two leaders reviewed various areas of bilateral relations and expressed satisfaction at the rapid progress in cooperation between the two countries in recent years.
Shri Modi reiterated the importance of the role played by the Philippines towards India’s Act East policy and India’s vision of the Asia-Pacific region. expressed a desire to expand further.
The Prime Minister also assured Mr. Marcos Jr. that India will fully support the Philippines’ development plans and projects.
The talks between Mr. Modi and the President of the Philippines came at a time when China strongly objected to the visit of US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi to Taiwan this week.
