CWG: Ravi Dahiya defeats Pakistan’s Asad to enter men’s freestyle final
Indian wrestlers put up a memorable performance on the opening day of their CWG 2022 campaign in Birmingham, winning six medals for India, three of them gold. Bajrang Punia, Deepak Punia and Sakshi Malik won gold medals in their respective categories, while Anshu Malik won a silver medal in the opening match of the Commonwealth Games.
Divya Kakran won a bronze medal as did Mohit Grewal, meaning Indian wrestlers won medals in all the categories they competed in on Friday. In total, India now has 26 medals (excluding medals confirmed by boxers).
Out of which 9 are Gold, 8 Silver and 9 Bronze. It is going to be another busy day for the Indian squad with many players participating in various sports including 9 in wrestling. In women’s cricket, India will face England in the semi-finals while in men’s hockey, India will face South Africa for a place in the final.
