Pakistan: Notice to Imran to appear before ECP on August 23
Islamabad : The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued notice to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman and former Prime Minister Imran Khan to appear on August 23 in the prohibited money case.
According to the ECP website, in compliance with the Commission’s decision dated August 2, 2022, a notice has been issued to the PTI president to appear before the ECP on August 23 in respect of the Political Parties Rules-2006. The ECP has earlier also issued a separate notice regarding the disqualification of Mr. Khan, which will come up for hearing on August 16. A three-member ECP bench headed by Chief Election Commissioner Sikander (CEC) Sultan Raja had earlier this week convicted PTI in the foreign funding case, saying the party had actually received the prohibited funds. The bench had also issued notice to PTI asking why the money should not be confiscated.
