Tel Aviv, Several rockets were fired at Israel from Gaza just hours after several people, including a leader of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), were killed in an Israeli airstrike in the Gaza Strip. Airstrike sirens were sounded in several Israeli cities, but rockets fell into open areas or were intercepted by the Iron Dome missile defense system, citing the Israeli military.

This said, the PIJ’s military wing said on Friday evening that the rockets were fired in response to the killing of PIJ commander Taisir al-Jabri. “We are attacking Tel Aviv and the cities of the center and the surrounding area with more than 100 missiles.”

Earlier, the Israeli military had attacked several targets in the Gaza Strip following threats from PIJ.

According to Palestinian sources, at least 10 people were killed in the Israeli attacks, including a 5-year-old child and other PIJ members. At least 75 people were reportedly injured.

Both the Palestinian Health Ministry and the Israeli military confirmed al-Jabri’s death.

According to the Israeli armed forces, PIJ military bases and buildings in the Gaza Strip were also targeted during the airstrike.

On Monday, PIJ leader Bassem Saadi was arrested during an Israeli anti-terrorist operation in the West Bank city of Jenin. The organization’s military wing, the Al-Quds Brigade, later threatened retaliation.

The PIJ is particularly active in the Gaza Strip, from where it regularly conducts rocket attacks on Israel. The organization has close ties with Iran.

Israeli forces surrounded areas along the Gaza Strip for several days and raised their alert level.

Israel continued its attacks. Prime Minister Yair Lapid said, “The Israeli government will not allow terrorist organizations to set the agenda and threaten Israeli citizens in towns on the outskirts of the Gaza Strip. Those who want to attack Israel should know that we are fighting against them.” will meet.”
