iPhone Users Report Mysterious Sounds, Sparking Privacy Concerns Amid iOS 18 Glitch
Though the experiences shared by these users on Reddit suggest that every case if different than each other. Additionally, some of the users have suggested that they have experienced hearing snippets of conversations or ambient noises like workers chatting in a warehouse. One user claims to have heard a man’s voice followed by the sound of a car crash through the phone’s earpiece. One iPhone user remembered hearing voices while simply browsing Reddit without any app actively using the microphone or speaker.
Though the exact root cause is not yet known, it is reported to be a glitch in the iOS 18 update. Notably, the timing of the problem coincides with the rollout of iOS 18.1 and the beta release of iOS 18.2. However, neither of these versions appears to address the mysterious audio problem so far.
Notably, it is not the very first time that such an issue has been reported by the users. Similar kinds of complaints came last year as several users described unexpected noises while using standard apps like iMessage and Apple Music.

Until Apple issues an update or clarification, affected users are advised to report any unusual device behaviour to Apple Support. In the meantime, some users suggest basic troubleshooting steps, such as resetting settings or performing a factory reset. However, you must be prepared as these measures may not fully resolve the issue.
