Delhi Capitals post 203 as KL Rahul leads the charge
After winning the toss, KKR opted to bowl first, but Delhi Capitals made full use of the conditions to post a strong total of 203/5 in 20 overs. KL Rahul once again shines with a superb 60 off 30 balls.
He was well supported by Axar Patel, who contributed a fluent 39, while valuable cameos from David Miller and Ashutosh Sharma ensured DC crossed the 200-run mark comfortably. Saurabh Dubey was the pick of the KKR bowlers, finishing with two wickets for 28 runs in his four overs.
KKR crumble despite Ajinkya Rahane’s fighting half-century
In reply, KKR started positively but collapsed under pressure in the middle overs. Skipper Ajinkya Rahane played a fighting knock of 63 off 39 balls, keeping his side in the contest early in the chase.
However, once Rahane fell, the innings quickly unraveled. Finn Allen and Manish Pandey made useful contributions, while Rovman Powell added 29 runs, but none of the batsmen could carry on.
The turning point came when KKR slipped from 128/4 to 163 all out in 18.4 overs, losing their last six wickets in a dramatic collapse.
Kuldeep Yadav, Ngidi and Starc seal dominant finish
Kuldeep Yadav was outstanding with the ball, picking up three crucial wickets and nearly completing a hat-trick. Lungi Ngidi also struck three times, removing key middle-order batters at crucial moments.
Mitchell Starc chipped in with two wickets, ensuring KKR’s chase never recovered after the mid-innings collapse. Axar Patel also contributed with a wicket as DC wrapped up a clinical bowling performance.
Final league standings and season wrap
With this result, Delhi Capitals finished on sixth spot whereas, KKR’s campaign ended in disappointment despite moments of strong turnaround during the tournament. Mumbai Indians escape last spot due to better net runrate than LSG.
Overall, it was a season filled with memorable batting displays, tight finishes, and standout individual performances across franchises, with DC ending their journey on a convincing note.
