IPL Retention Rules: BCCI took a big decision, teams can retain 6 players, return of RTM, know everything

IPL 2025 Retention Player Fee: Just before the mega auction of IPL 2025, the picture of retention has become completely clear. Now everything should be clear as to how many players the teams will be able to retain and how much they will be paid. Now teams will be able to retain 6 players from their existing team. There will also be an option of Right to Match (RTM). The auction amount has also been increased. Teams will be able to retain a total of five Indian or foreign players (Indian and foreign). There will be an uncapped player in this. Along with this, they will also have the option of 6 retention.

Before the mega auction (TATA IPL), IPL franchise will be able to retain 6 players. Different salary slabs (salary caps) have been made for these players. The retained list will include five capped and one uncapped players. The price of an uncapped player can be up to Rs 4 crore. Whereas the price of a capped player will be much higher. The price of the first retained player will be Rs 18 crore. The price of the second player will be Rs 14 crore and the price of the third player will be Rs 11 crore. Similarly, the price of the fourth player will be Rs 18 crore and the price of the fifth player will be Rs 14 crore.

IPL said in its media advisory that the auction purse of the teams has been increased. Teams will have Rs 120 crore in IPL 2025. If we look at the 2024 season, it will be Rs 110 crore including the auction purse and increased performance pay. Now in 2025 it has become Rs 146 crore. This amount will increase to Rs 151 crore in 2026. Thus by 2027 it will become Rs 157 crore.

There has been a lot of discussion about the Impact Player rule since last season. Various questions were being raised regarding this but this rule will now continue from 2025 to 2027. However, nothing can be said yet about what decision will be taken after this.
