Ganga Dussehra is celebrated on the tenth day of Shukla Paksha of Jyestha month. According to religious beliefs, Ganga descended on earth on Jyestha Shukla Dashami. He saved the ancestors of King Bhagirath, due to which he attained salvation. On the occasion of Ganga Dussehra, people bathe in the river Ganga and worship Mother Ganga, so that sins can be eradicated and salvation can be attained after death.
