The Bangladesh team did not come to India to participate in the T20 World Cup 2026 and played the matches only at neutral venues. In fact, BCCI had ordered KKR to drop Mustafizur Rahman, who was bought in the IPL auction, and the franchise did just that. After this, an uproar started and the Bangladesh Cricket Board was adamant on not coming to India to participate in the T-20 World Cup 2026 and was out of the tournament. Now Bangladesh’s Hindu cricketer Liton Das has spoken and told what was discussed with the officials of Bangladesh Cricket Board on this issue.

Liton Das recently said in an interview to Prothom Alo, “We had gone to attend a meeting where top BCB officials were present. We were just in the mood to sit in an AC room and drink tea. But there we were asked what our opinion was… what did we want as players? We did not want any differences or conflicts and wanted to play in the tournament. We were told that there is a security issue in that country (India). To this we said that we have played in Pakistan also. There were armed security personnel standing outside our room. More risky than that. What else can happen? If we can play in Pakistan then why not in India?”

After Mustafizur Rahman’s exit from the IPL, the controversy increased and finally the Bangladesh cricket team was out of the T20 World Cup 2026. Bangladesh had tried to get permission to play at a neutral venue, but it did not happen, due to which the team was out of the tournament.
