Rishabh Pant became emotional after LSG’s defeat, said this on the poor performance of the team, gave a big hint about the next season
Lucknow Super Giants IPL 2026: IPL 2026 ended with a defeat for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). In the 68th match of the tournament, Lucknow had to face defeat by 7 wickets against Punjab Kings (PBKS). Talking to the broadcaster after the match, LSG captain Rishabh Pant admitted that this season has been very difficult for the team.
After the defeat against Punjab Kings, Captain Pant said that it was a difficult match. Still, no matter what happens, you have to have courage. You have to keep your head high. Good or bad, a lot has been learned. Obviously, it was a difficult season for us as a team.
The team will move forward with positive things
Rishabh Pant further said about the match that, you can always score 5-10 more runs, but I think there was a good total on the scoreboard. However, it becomes more difficult as the batting gets better in the second innings at the Ekana Stadium. For this reason everyone wants to field first.
Pant further said, want to see positive things as a team. Josh Inglis played a brilliant innings. Mitchell Marsh is not here, but he has performed brilliantly all season. Prince has had a great season in bowling. Even though the last few matches were not good for him, he performed well in the overall season. He has also received a call from the Indian team. Mohsin has returned from injury. Obviously there were a lot of positive things.
Shami did a great job
He said that the way Shami has put together the fast bowling unit, it has been great to see. It’s been a long season, but at the same time we want to keep our heads held high and we promise that no matter what happens next year, we’ll come back stronger.

It was a forgettable season for Lucknow
Lucknow Super Giants could win only 4 out of 14 matches played in IPL 2026 and the team had to face defeat in 10 matches. Under the captaincy of Rishabh Pant, the team failed to make it to the playoffs for the second consecutive season. LSG finished the tournament at the bottom of the points table.
