Major attack by Baloch Liberation Army in Pakistan: Blast in train in Quetta, more than 2 dozen dead
New Delhi: A major terrorist attack took place on Sunday in Quetta, the capital of Pakistan’s Balochistan province. The military shuttle train going from Quetta Cantonment to the railway station was targeted. More than 24 people lost their lives and more than 70 people were injured in this blast. Banned organization Baloch Liberation Army i.e. BLA has taken responsibility for the attack.
Explosion near Chaman gate
According to media reports, according to eyewitnesses, a minivan filled with explosives collided with the train near Chaman Gate. There was a huge explosion with the collision. The sound was so loud that the glasses of nearby buildings and parked vehicles were shattered. Railway Minister Hanif Abbasi said that the engine and three coaches of the train were badly damaged in the blast.
Soldiers and common people were traveling in the train
The BLA statement said that 165 soldiers, 11 junior commissioned officers, 109 newly recruited soldiers and 37 family members were present in the train. Pakistan Railway Minister also admitted that there were civilian passengers in the train. A large number of people were waiting to catch the next train to go home on the festival of Bakrid.
revealed the identity of the attacker
BLA reported that it was a suicide attack. The attacker’s name was Bilal Shahwani alias Sain. According to the organization, 25 year old Bilal was a resident of Sariab area of Quetta. He started working in 2020 by joining the Baloch resistance movement. In 2022, due to his military ability and discipline, he joined BLA’s suicide squad Majeed Brigade.
Was involved in many operations earlier also
BLA claims that Bilal had conducted several guerrilla operations in Dasht, Kombila, Quetta and Kalat. He had also played an important role in Operation Hero-1 and Operation Hero-2. The organization said that this attack has exposed the strength of their intelligence branch Zarb.
Claim to continue struggle till independence
BLA said that their armed struggle will continue until Balochistan gets complete independence. The organization described this attack as proof of its strategy and reach. Such attacks have increased in Balochistan in recent months in Pakistan.
