TMC press conference

Amidst the turmoil in TMC, Kalyan Banerjee said in a press conference on Tuesday, “You know that some incidents happened yesterday. TMC leader Sukhendu Shekhar Roy resigned from the Rajya Sabha yesterday. He has made some allegations. There can be questions on how much truth is there in those allegations. However, we believe that by resigning he has done the right thing and has followed the moral values and political ethics. It should be like this. If anyone has differences with the party, If his actions have embarrassed the party in front of the people, if he has many complaints against the party, or if he no longer wants to be with the party and wants to support someone else, then it is his moral responsibility to resign.”

He further said, “Just as Sukhendu Shekhar Roy resigned, in a similar situation others should also resign. I don’t know how many people signed, how many didn’t, or what actually happened. I don’t know who is claiming what. But even after 24 hours have passed, the letter that Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar said he had sent has not yet been made public. No one has seen that letter yet. If we are honest, It is such an important matter, and morality is so important, then why was that letter not shown?”

At a press conference, Kirti Azad said, “All our 29 MPs were elected through the Trinamool Congress – the party of ‘Maa, Mati, Manush’ – with Didi’s blessings and Abhishek’s support and guidance. I want to ask these ‘traitors’… If you had any problems or complaints, then why did you express them only after the elections? You should have raised these things before the elections. Many allegations were made after the elections. Shubhendu Shekhar made allegations and then resigned. Whether those allegations were true or not is a different matter. But at least he resigned from the party he was associated with and resigned from the post.

Challenging the rebel MPs, Azad further said, “If you also have political morality, then you also resign and contest elections on a BJP ticket. If you have even an iota of self-respect, morality and dignity, then stand up and say openly that you are no longer with the Trinamool Congress. And if Trinamool workers are attacked in your constituency, then under the leadership of Kalyan (Banerjee) da, we will go there and stand with them, because we Don’t betray your people. And at such a time, let me make it clear… We were defeated not because of ourselves. We were defeated by everyone’s collective effort against us.”
