Actually the Ministry of Labor and Employment has issued a draft notification in this regard. Suggestions have been sought from stakeholders on this notification within 30 days. After this, the government will take a final decision. It is to be noted that under the Health Insurance Scheme of the Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) of the Central Government, it is proposed to increase maternity expenses to Rs 7,500.
At present, pregnant women get this amount of Rs 5,000. Now there is a plan to increase this money by Rs 2500 more. Under the health insurance scheme of ESIC, the government pays maternity expenses for the insured female employee or the wife of the insured male employee.
This maternity expense is paid to beneficiary women who avail maternity services in other hospitals due to the ESIC network not having access to hospitals or drug centers. This maternity support is provided for only two children. Now after the decision of the Central Government, pregnant women will get Rs 2500 more than the maternity expenses.
