Mumbai: The famous actress of the 70s, Mumtaz, shared many interesting information about her faith and personal life in a recent interview. Mumtaz, whose real name is Mumtaz Askari, is considered one of the most successful actresses of her time. She has created a special identity in Hindi cinema through her acting and beauty. Films like ‘Tere Mere Sapne’ and ‘Roti’ gave him a special place in the hearts of the audience. Among her responsibilities, Mumtaz also told that she is a Muslim by birth, but she has equal faith in Hindu Gods and Goddesses. His favorite deities are Lord Shiva and Lord Krishna.

Mumtaz shared that she has an idol of Lord Ganesha in her house, and she bows to him first thing every morning while descending the stairs. It has become an important part of their daily routine. Reflecting on her attraction towards Shiva, she said that Lord Shiva is extremely beautiful in her eyes and she enjoys worshiping him.

Mumtaz’s views on interfaith marriage

In the interview he also spoke openly about his marriage. Mumtaz married businessman Mayur Madhvani and after this she moved away from films so that she could devote time to her family. He told that his sister has also married a Hindu, and both of them have a happy married life. According to Mumtaz, mutual respect and understanding is more important than religion in relationships. If a husband and wife understand each other, then religious identity has no importance.

He also stressed that he does not understand why people create distance between Hindus and Muslims. According to him, the real religion is humanity and love.

Mumtaz’s displeasure over multiple marriages

During the conversation, Mumtaz expressed her displeasure over the practice of multiple marriages in Muslim society. He said that it is not right that a man should marry three or four times. He described this practice as weakening relationships. Mumtaz also said that every woman wants rights and respect in her relationship, and repeated marriages lead to unhappiness for women.

He asked whether anyone had thought about what women go through in such a situation. In his view, this is a decision that affects family and relationships.

Sharing her views, Mumtaz described the Hindu marriage system as better. He believes that most Hindu men have only one marriage and try to maintain it. Sometimes situations may arise for second marriage, but generally people try to maintain their relationship.

He said that maintaining a relationship is a real responsibility. It may be easy to end one relationship and move on to another, but this is not the right path. Mumtaz and her husband Mayur Madhvani have two daughters, Natasha and Tanya.
