Senior BJP leader says opposition alliances face contradictions ahead of Uttar Pradesh elections.
Former Union Cabinet Minister and senior BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Saturday launched a sharp attack on the Congress and the Samajwadi Party, accusing them of dynastic politics, political opportunism and undermining democratic institutions, while asserting that the BJP’s governance model continues to receive public backing.
Addressing the inaugural session of the BJP’s “Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Prashikshan Mahaabhiyan” in Ghaziabad, Naqvi said what he described as the Congress’ “sky-high arrogance” and “gutter-level abhorrent” politics had reduced the party to a weakened political force. He also targeted what he called “Rahul & Company”, alleging that opposition parties were engaged in political theatrics rather than presenting an alternative political vision.
Referring to recent electoral contests and the political environment ahead of the 2027 UP elections, Naqvi claimed opposition alliances were facing internal contradictions and leadership conflicts. He alleged that attempts to consolidate opposition forces would not succeed electorally.
The former minister accused sections of the opposition of engaging in what he termed a campaign against constitutional institutions and democratic processes. He said opposition parties should introspect on repeated electoral defeats instead of blaming institutions or alleging manipulation of mandates. Naqvi also rejected allegations made by opposition parties regarding constitutional issues, saying such campaigns had failed to resonate with voters. He argued that electoral outcomes in states including Bengal and Assam reflected public support for governance and development-oriented politics.
Highlighting the BJP’s governance record, Naqvi said the party and its allies were currently governing across 22 states and serving a majority of the country’s population. He attributed this support to what he described as a model of good governance and inclusive empowerment. Praising PM Modi, Naqvi said India had benefited from stable leadership during a period of global uncertainty and credited the government with responding effectively to successive challenges.
Quoting the couplet, “Raat bhar ka hai mehman andhera, kis ke roke ruka hai savera?”, Naqvi said political pessimism would eventually give way to public confidence and progress. He urged party workers to counter fear and misinformation with public trust and engagement.
Continuing his criticism of the Congress and the Samajwadi Party, Naqvi claimed that “dynasty-driven politics” would fail to secure public support in the 2027 UP elections. He further asserted that the BJP governments led by Modi at the Centre and Yogi Adityanath in UP represented continuity in governance, welfare delivery and security. According to organisers, the BJP’s two-day training programme includes eleven sessions focused on organisational expansion, election management, booth management, cadre development, party history, social media, media management, operational methods, national issues and welfare schemes of the Modi Govt.
