Sharjah Officer G. Anwar Hussain (27) was stopped for questioning. He could not answer several questions asked by the officers. The Bangladeshi national also had an Indian passport and Aadhaar card. Anwar Hussain is a native of Balampur, Bangladesh. He had reached Coimbatore airport on an Air Arabia flight from Sharjah. During the preliminary interrogation, when he was asked about the passport, he produced the passport.

On the basis of information found in the passport, Anwar was found to be a resident of Kolkata. But the immigration officials asked questions about landing in Coimbatore instead of Kolkata. The police asked Anwar some questions as to why he did this. But Anwar could not explain why he came to Coimbatore instead of Kolkata.

When the officers interrogated Anwar, he gave conflicting answers. He also showed his Aadhaar card and birth certificate. Both these documents bore the seal of the Government of India and there was everything to indicate that they were official documents. But at the same time M. Krishnashree in the team of immigration officials asked Anwar to listen to the Indian national anthem. But Anwar does not know how to sing the national anthem. After this he himself confessed to the officials that he is not an Indian but a Bangladeshi.

The officials handed over Anwar to the Peelamedu police station. The police have registered a case against him. A case has been registered under the Passport Act along with the Infiltration of Foreign Nationals Act. Anwar first came to Avinashi town in Tamil Nadu’s Tiruppur district in 2018. After that he worked there till 2020 on the basis of false information. After this he met some agents. He made a fake birth certificate. With his help, he got the Aadhaar card and Indian passport made.

Went abroad with the help of fake documents but…

After preparing these documents, Anwar left for the United Arab Emirates. There he worked as a tailor. On Monday he again returned to India with the intention of permanently settling in Avinashi. But the officers caught him red-handed. Intelligence agencies have also started investigation in this matter. Anwar Hussain was produced before a local magistrate on Tuesday. He has been sent to judicial custody at Puzhal Central Jail in Chennai.
