Taiwan’s Defense Ministry said on Friday that several Chinese ships and planes crossed the midline of the Strait of Taiwan for the second day. The Defense Ministry said the midline is the unofficial dividing line between the Chinese mainland and Taiwan in the Taiwan Strait.

China has started military drills around the island for the second day after US top Democrat Nancy Pelosi’s controversial visit to Taiwan, he said. Ms Pelosi, speaking in Japan, said on Friday that her visit to Taiwan amid warnings from China was not motivated by her own vested interests. He also vowed that the US would not allow China to isolate Taiwan. Taiwan said on Thursday that China has fired ballistic missiles around Taiwan’s northeast and southwest coasts.

A report reported that Taiwan said the move violated the island’s sovereignty and was under siege. Both the US and Taiwan, however, have accused China of trying to change the status quo in the Taiwan Strait. Whereas China sees Taiwan as a separate province which should be united with China. The US does not recognize Taiwan diplomatically but does not agree with the Chinese claims.
