Rs 164.5 crore given to Infosys for new IT portal
Kolkata: The central government has paid Rs 164.5 crore to IT company Infosys for setting up a new income tax e-filing portal. This amount was given between January-2019 to June 2021. This information was given by Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary in Parliament on Monday. Infosys got this tender under an open tender under Integrated e-filing & Centralized Processing Center (CPC 2.0) Project. The tender was awarded to Infosys on the basis of the lowest bidder.
Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Choudhary told in the Lok Sabha in response to a written question that Rs 164.5 crore has been paid to Infosys under this project. He said that the Union Cabinet had approved this CPC project of Rs 4,241.97 crore on January 16, 2019. This was for 8.5 years. This included GST, rent, postage and project management cost.
Chowdhary said that taxpayers, tax professionals and other stakeholders have complained about various problems in the new portal. Facing some technical problems. All these technical problems have been told to Infosys, the company that makes it. The Income Tax Department and the company are trying to solve these problems under the contact.
