Let us tell you that this incident is of March 2018, just before the Lok Sabha elections, when a young woman was raped in Atul Rai’s office in Manduadih police station area of Varanasi.
In fact, just before the last Lok Sabha elections, on May 1, 2019, a young woman had filed a case against Atul Rai in the Lanka police station on charges including rape. On 22 June 2019, MP Atul Rai surrendered in the court of Varanasi. In this case, Atul Rai is lodged in the Central Jail Naini in Prayagraj district. The girl and her friend had alleged through Facebook Live that all together proved her characterless and tried to save MP Atul Rai. After this, the girl set herself on fire in front of the Supreme Court in Delhi, the girl died during treatment.
The way has been cleared for BSP MP Atul Rai to come out of jail, Varanasi’s MP-MLA court has acquitted him of rape charges. After this, the MP can soon come out of Naini Jail of Prayagraj. The acquittal of Atul Rai was confirmed by his lawyer Anuj Yadav and the plaintiff’s counsel ADGC Jyoti Shankar.
