NIA’s big action on D-Gang, underworld don Chhota Shakeel’s brother-in-law arrested
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken a big action on the D gang. The NIA on Friday arrested two associates of Dawood gang, Arif Sheikh and Shabbir Sheikh, from Mumbai. Both of them have been arrested in the case related to Dawood Ibrahim Kaskar and his associates. Both were involved in activities like illegal activities and terror funding of D Company. Of these, Arif Khekh is said to be the brother-in-law of underworld don Chhota Shakeel.
Arif Sheikh, a resident of Mira Road in Thane district on the outskirts of Mumbai, is the brother-in-law of underworld don Chhota Shakeel. Chhota Shakeel’s younger sister Fahmida was married to Arif Sheikh. In 2020, Fahmida was infected with Corona, after which she died. Chhota Shakeel, whose real name is Shakeel Babumiya Sheikh, is said to be the CEO of Dawood Ibrahim gang.
Arif Sheikh is accused of murder of former home minister of Gujarat
Arif Shaikh, accused in the murder of former Gujarat Home Minister Haren Pandya, was extradited from Dubai to Mumbai in 2006. Apart from the cases registered by the Gujarat Police, several cases of extortion and land grabbing have been registered against Arif Shaikh by the Crime Branch of Mumbai Police. In 2016, the Anti-Extortion Cell of Mumbai Police had registered a case of extortion against Arif Shaikh and arrested him.
Sources said that on the orders of Chhota Shakeel, Arif Sheikh was running the operation for the gang and was allegedly working in parts of western Mumbai. The second person arrested along with Arif Shaikh is his younger brother Shabbir Shaikh who used to help Arif run the gang, extortion and other activities.
