Rahul Gandhi’s attack on RSS on the national flag, know what is the truth of Tricolor and Sangh?

New Delhi

A new controversy has arisen over the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign. Actually, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had targeted BJP and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in a Facebook post. Rahul wrote that an organization refused to adopt the tricolor for which many people of our country were martyred, did not hoist the tricolor at its headquarters in Nagpur for 52 years, the tricolor was humiliated continuously and today the same The people who came out of the organization are telling the history of the tricolor, are planning a ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign. So do Rahul’s allegations really have merit? Does RSS really distance itself from the tricolor? Here we will tell you the story from Rahul’s allegation to RSS’s tricolor hoisting.

What has Rahul accused the RSS of?
Rahul Gandhi has said in his post that why did RSS not hoist the tricolor at its headquarters for 52 years? Why is the livelihood of those who make the national flag out of Khadi being destroyed? Why was the import of machine made, polyester flags allowed from China? Rahul said that the RSS did not hoist the tricolor at its headquarters till 52 years after independence and now all this is being done “hypocritical”. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday appealed to the people to strengthen the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign by hoisting the national flag at their respective homes from August 13 to August 15. Modi had said through a tweet that this campaign will deepen our association with the tricolor. He mentioned that the tricolor was adopted as the national flag only on July 22, 1947.

What is the answer of RSS
The RSS on Wednesday responded to criticism for not putting the picture of the tricolor on its social media accounts. RSS’s Akhil Bharatiya Prachar Pramukh Sunil Ambekar said such things should not be politicised. The RSS has already supported programs like ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ and ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’. In July, the Sangh had appealed for the full support and participation of people and volunteers in the programs organized by government and private bodies and organizations affiliated to the Sangh. Without naming anyone, Ambedkar alleged that the party which was raising such questions was responsible for the partition of the country. When asked about the questions being raised on social media, he did not respond directly and said that it is a process. Let us see it. We are contemplating how to celebrate it. The Sangh has already made its stand clear and supports all the programs initiated by the Center in connection with the Amrit Mahotsav.

What is the RSS tricolor controversy?
In fact, the RSS has been accused of not adopting the tricolor mindfully. In the book Golwalkar, Shri Guruji Samagra Darshan, Bhartiya Vichar Sadhna, Nagpur Volume-1, page 98 on Madhav Sadashiv Golwalkar, one of the founders of the RSS, his thoughts about the Indian flag are written. It is written that the symbol of our great culture is our saffron flag which is the form of God for us. We have considered it appropriate to keep this most venerable flag in our Gurusthan. It is our firm belief that in the end the whole nation will bow before this flag. Due to these things, the opponents are surrounding BJP and RSS in the tricolor dispute.

RSS ban, Patel’s letter
The people of the whole country were shocked after the assassination of the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi. The then Home Minister of the country, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel had banned the RSS in 1948. On 4 February 1948, the Central Government issued an order saying that the government is committed to uproot those who are working to endanger the independence of the country. Under this, it has been decided to declare RSS illegal. In 1948, Golwalkar wrote a letter to Patel and appealed to lift the ban on the Sangh. On this, Patel had said that it is necessary that the RSS has served the Hindu society and where the need was felt, it also took part. However, he had further said that helping Hindus is one thing but attacking the poor, women and children is not right. After this letter, Golwalkar and Patel met twice and then on 11 July 1949, the ban on the Sangh was lifted. Patel had decided to lift the ban on the condition of taking an oath of loyalty to the Indian flag and the Constitution.

After 52 years, the tricolor at the Sangh Headquarters in Nagpur
The tricolor was hoisted for the first time after 52 years at the RSS headquarters in Nagpur on 26 January 2002. On Golwalkar’s claim about the tricolor, Patel had said that the national flag has to be accepted by all, if anyone thinks that there should be an alternative flag for the national flag, then there should be a right reasoning for it. But that flag should be open and constitutional. In May 1949, the then Union Home Secretary HVR Iyengar wrote a letter to Golwalkar that a clear acceptance of the national flag (the saffron flag could be the organizational flag of the Sangh) would be necessary to tell the country that the Sangh had nothing to do with it. There is no doubt.

In 1947, 1950 also the Sangh had hoisted the tricolor
According to RSS sources, the Sangh had hoisted the tricolor on 15 August 1947 and 26 January 1950. After this RSS did not hoist the tricolor till 2002. RSS expert Rakesh Sinha surrounded the Congress for doing politics over the tricolor. He said that the tricolor is our common heritage. It should not be opposed. Nationalist culture does not suit the Congress. RSS has stopped taking Rahul Gandhi seriously. The RSS has been felicitating the flag since 1930. Patriotism is the first and last word in the Sangh. RSS has been celebrating Indian Integrity Day since the beginning. Congress has no sense of history. Its history perception is limited to Nehru-Gandhi.
