Organized under the aegis of Suvidha Foundation Trust, it will be a half marathon i.e. 21 kms. It is for women and men. Apart from this, there will also be a cross-country run of 5 km for women and 10 km for men. A three km ‘Celebrity Run’ will also be organized to create awareness about sports and health.

Athletes can register by visiting the www.upmarathonsuvidha.com website. Registration can be done till 25 August. The race will start on August 28 at 5.30 am at 1090 intersection. The Half Marathon will start from 1090 and will go to Shaheed Path via Equitable Square, Taj Hotel, Partnership Bhawan, Janeshwar Mishra Park, Gomti Bandha Road. Return via this route and will end at 1090 intersection. A technical committee has been constituted for the marathon. Its chairman is eminent coach Dronacharya awardee JS Bhatia.

Organizing Secretary Sameer Sharma said on Saturday that the winners of women and men in the marathon would be given a prize of Rs one lakh each as the first prize. The second place athletes will be given prizes of Rs.75-75 thousand and the third-place finishers Rs.50-50 thousand. In addition, the fourth and fifth place athletes will be given a cash prize of Rs 10,000 each and those from sixth to tenth place will be given a cash prize of Rs 5,000 each.

Organizing Committee President Mrinal Sinha said that in the cross country race for women and men, cash prizes of Rs. The fourth and fifth place athletes will be given a prize of Rs 5,000 each and the sixth to tenth place athletes will get Rs 2,000 each. Attractive prizes will be awarded to 50 participants through a lottery system in the celebrity race.

Photo finish cameras will be used in marathon and crosscountry races. Also, ‘computer chip’ will also be used for timing. The computer chip will be provided in marathon and crosscountry races. It will be given to only five hundred runners. Apart from this, manual timing will be taken from the state-of-the-art stop watch.

The chief convener of the race, Dr. Sudha Bajpai told that the Uttar Pradesh Athletics Association and District Athletics Association Lucknow have given recognition to this race. Uttar Pradesh Athletics Association has appointed Dr. Ranjan Bhatia as Technical Delegate, Narendra Kumar as Convener and B.R. Varun has been appointed as the local convener.
