CBI filed supplementary charge sheet in NEET paper leak case, Jharkhand accused had hatched the conspiracy

New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday filed the fifth supplementary chargesheet against five people, including key gang member Amit Kumar Singh, in the 'NEET UG' exam paper leak case. Singh, a resident of Bokaro, Jharkhand, had allegedly conspired and executed the leak.

In the charge sheet filed before the special CBI court in Patna, the agency has alleged that Singh was the key conspirator of the gang and was involved in distributing leaked question papers to candidates in Bihar and Jharkhand, officials said. Bokaro's Sudeep Kumar and Yuvraj Kumar. , Abhimanyu Patel of Nalanda (Bihar) and Amit Kumar of Patna had helped.

Number of named accused increased to 45

“The number of accused named in the chargesheet filed in the NEET paper leak case has reached 45 and all of them are still in judicial custody,” a CBI spokesperson said in a statement. CBI took over the investigation on June 23.

A CBI spokesperson said the chargesheet was filed under various sections of the Indian Penal Code such as 120-B, 109, 409, 420, 380, 201 and 411 and section 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018). Has been filed under Section 13(1) (A).

Fake candidates have been identified

“The names of the candidates who were beneficiaries of question paper theft or malpractice and the names of the MBBS student who solved the stolen question paper, or appeared in the examination in place of the genuine candidate, have already been identified,” the statement said. and have been shared with the National Testing Agency/Ministry of Education.”

The exam was held on 5th May

NEET-UG is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH and other related courses in government and private institutions. This year the exam was conducted on May 5 at 4,750 centers in 571 cities, including 14 foreign cities. More than 23 lakh candidates had appeared in the examination.
