NIA Takes Action: Girish Baruah hiding in Bengaluru arrested, investigation into ULFA case continues

Girish Barua alias Gautam Barua was nabbed from an area on the outskirts of Bengaluru, where he was hiding, the National Investigation Agency said in a statement. This month, the NIA registered a case against the banned United Liberation Front of Assam-Independent for planting explosive devices in Assam.

According to PTI, the NIA in its statement said the accused was part of a group of ULFA (I) cadres who had planted improvised explosive devices (IEDs) at several locations in North Lakhimpur district of Assam on the orders of the top leadership of the organisation. ,

Barua was arrested and produced before the special NIA court in Bengaluru on Wednesday. Where the court passed the order of transit remand and production before the special NIA court of Guwahati. NIA said that investigation into the case is ongoing.
