Under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, subsidy of Rs 300 was available on LPG cylinder. That means the beneficiaries of the scheme will get this subsidy only on 4 cylinders instead of 9. On the fifth cylinder they will also have to pay the normal rate. The government says that this reduction in LPG cylinders under the Ujjwala scheme will be implemented with immediate effect. However, cylinders received in January, February and March will not be counted under the new rule. Under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY), subsidy is given for one financial year and the financial year starts from the month of April. Beneficiaries of the scheme will be able to avail 4 subsidized cylinders between April 2026 and March 2027.
