Padma Awards 2023: Padma Awards announced, Padma Vibhushan to Mulayam Singh Yadav – Padma Shri to 91 celebrities


The Government of India has announced the Padma Awards on the eve of the 74th Republic Day on Wednesday. This year, this award has been announced for 106 celebrities, in which 6 people will be given Padma Vibhushan, 9 Padma Bhushan and 91 people will be given Padma Shri. Late Samajwadi Party patron and former UP CM Mulayam Singh Yadav will be awarded the Padma Vibhushan (posthumously). Along with them Dilip Mahalanabis, the father of ORS (Oral Rehydration Solution) has been posthumously awarded the Padma Vibhushan which is India’s second highest civilian award.

According to a government release, 87-year-old Dr Mahalanabis from West Bengal pioneered the widespread use of ORS, which is estimated to have saved more than 50 million lives globally. Mahalanabis died in Kolkata last October.

At the same time, Padma Vibhushan will be given to tabla player Zakir Hussain, SM Krishna and Srinivasa Vardhan. Apart from this, apart from Dilip Mahalnabis, Mulayam Singh Yadav and Balkrishna Doshi will be honored with Padma Vibhushan posthumously.

It has been announced to give Padma Shri to Ratan Chandra Kar, who works among the Zorba tribe in Andabar and Nicobar. Apart from these, Padma Shri will be given to Hira Bai Lobi, Munishveer Chandra Davar, Ramkui Wangwe Newme, VP Appakuttan Puduwal, Kapil Dev Prasad.

Padma Awards – Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri are among the highest civilian awards of the country. Since 1954, these awards are announced every year on the occasion of Republic Day. These honors are given to many unsung heroes in the fields of art, literature and education, sports, medicine and social work.
