Patrick Schwarzenegger & Phoebe Dynevor Star in First BTS Photo From Beach Read
Patrick Schwarzenegger and Phoebe Dynevor have officially started filming Beach Read. The first behind-the-scenes image offers fans an early look at their characters. Another Emily Henry bestseller is heading to theaters after the success of People We Meet on Vacation. Production is now underway, and the creative team has shared a small preview of what’s in store.
What the Beach Read adaptation first photo reveals
The upcoming movie adaptation has entered production in Toronto, with director Yulin Kuang marking the occasion by posting a behind-the-scenes image from a camera test. Alongside the photo, she wrote, “A crumb of bts from the BEACH READ camera test for you, dear reader. Can’t wait to show what we’ve been cooking up.”
The image gives fans their first glimpse of the lead pair as January Andrews and Augustus “Gus” Everett. Dynevor appears with a short red hairstyle and wears a yellow cardigan over a white top, complete with a gold locket necklace. Meanwhile, Schwarzenegger sports longer hair and a relaxed look, wearing a navy tank top and an open short-sleeve shirt, with a chain necklace.
Based on Emily Henry’s 2020 bestseller, Beach Read follows two writers who are both stuck in a creative slump. January makes her living writing romance novels, while Gus is known for more serious literary fiction. After ending up as neighbors for the summer, the two strike a fun bet: they’ll swap genres and see who can pull it off. Naturally, things get complicated when their challenge starts turning into something much more real (via People).
Phoebe Dynevor signed on earlier this year, while Patrick Schwarzenegger joined the cast in April. Directing duties are being handled by Yulin Kuang, who previously helped bring People We Meet on Vacation to the screen.
In the same post shared alongside 20th Century Studios and Phoebe Dynevor, director Yulin Kuang revealed that cameras are officially rolling, telling fans, “filming has officially commenced; see you only in theaters on May 7, 2027.”
The cast is stacked, too. Kevin Bacon, Andie MacDowell, Tig Notaro, and Kristin Davis have all signed on for the movie, although the studio is still keeping details about their characters under wraps. That little mystery is only adding to the excitement.
