Shortage of petrol and diesel in Pakistan

Amid rumors of shortage of petrol and diesel in all major cities of Pakistan, Pakistan’s Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has said that the country has sufficient stock of petrol and diesel to meet the domestic demand.

OGRA spokesperson Imran Ghaznavi said in a statement on Tuesday, “There is sufficient stock of petrol and diesel available across the country. The country currently has enough petrol for 18 days and diesel for 37 days.

He said that local refineries are also playing their due role in meeting the demand of petroleum products. Earlier, Pakistan’s Oil Companies Advisory Council (OCAC) highlighted the challenges faced by oil marketing companies and refineries due to delay in issuing letters of credit for import of petroleum products.

OCAC has requested the federal government’s immediate intervention to ensure timely issuance of letters of credit to avoid fuel shortage in the country.
