Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva arrived in New Delhi on Wednesday afternoon on a five-day (18–22 February) visit to India. Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Pabitra Margherita welcomed him at the airport. Lula is also accompanied by a delegation of about 14 ministers and top CEOs of major Brazilian companies.

After reaching Delhi, Lula wrote in his social media message, “Hello, India! I come with an urgent agenda—to strengthen ties, deepen partnerships and discuss the future of AI in the world.” He reiterated the commitment to enhance innovation and cooperation between the two countries.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, President Lula will also attend the AI ​​Summit as well as hold a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Modi. Draupadi Murmu is likely to host a banquet in his honour. Vice President CP Radhakrishnan and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar are also likely to meet him.

This is President Lula’s sixth visit to India. Earlier he had come to India for the G-20 summit in September 2023. After the India tour, he will visit South Korea.
