Death blast in Quetta! A train full of military personnel was targeted

Quetta A big explosion took place in Mumbai on Sunday, in which at least 24 people died, while more than 50 people are said to be injured. According to AFP report, the blast took place near a railway track in south-west Pakistan and the target was a train in which military personnel were travelling. Pakistani Army soldiers are also said to be among the dead.

Different information is coming out regarding the blast. Some reports say that the explosion occurred on the railway track, while others say it occurred near the track.

Quetta blast, what is the update?

According to the report of Al Jazeera correspondent, the explosive exploded about 1 kilometer before the last station of the train. After the blast, two coaches of the train overturned and caught fire. Black smoke rising from the incident site was visible far away. Quoting eyewitnesses, AP reported that several vehicles parked near the explosion were also damaged.

Balochistan government official Babar Yousafzai said that the administration is still investigating the blast. However, he did not share more information than this. Videos and photos from the scene showed damaged buildings nearby. Many people were seen climbing over the overturned coaches and trying to rescue the people trapped inside.

Who took responsibility?

Baloch Liberation Army has claimed responsibility for the attack on a train carrying army personnel in Quetta on Sunday (24 May 2026). BLA spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch issued a statement saying, “The Baloch Liberation Army targeted a train carrying soldiers of the occupation army going from Quetta Cantt in a planned suicide attack. The Baloch Liberation Army takes full responsibility for this operation.” BLA also said that it will soon issue a detailed statement regarding the attack and the loss of life in it.

Balochistan has long been a center of unrest. Here organizations like Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) have been demanding independence from the Pakistan government. This incident has happened at a time when terrorists had hijacked a train carrying 400 passengers in Balochistan a year ago. The train was going from Quetta to Peshawar and BLA had claimed responsibility for that attack. At that time, Pakistani Army had conducted an operation and killed all 33 terrorists and hundreds of passengers were saved.

Apart from this, in October 2025, several bogies of Jafar Express also derailed after an explosion in Sindh province, in which many passengers were injured.
