Suresh Raina-MS Dhoni Friendship: Former Team India batsman Suresh Raina said that he is very sad to hear those things of people, when they say that there is a special friendship with former India captain MS Dhoni. Due to this friendship, he was able to play in Team India for so long. There is no doubt that the bonding between Raina and Dhoni is very special. But Dhoni never favored him to be selected in the team. Raina always got selected in the Indian team on the strength of his hard work.

Let us tell you that 34-year-old Raina had retired from international cricket on August 15 last year. He and Dhoni together said goodbye to international cricket. Both the players also play together for Chennai Super Kings in IPL.

Raina last played T20 cricket for Team India against England in the year 2018. Since then he did not get a chance to return to the Indian team, so he decided to retire from cricket.

Raina recently recounted his good and bad moments in his autobiography, ‘Believe: What Life and Cricket Taught Me’. In this book, he has given his stand on the fact that people tell his friendship with Dhoni because of his playing in Team India.

Raina wrote, ‘It is not at all that I played for so long in Team India because of Dhoni’s friendship. I was able to play in Team India only on the strength of my hard work and performance.

He wrote, ‘Dhoni knew how to get a better performance than me and I too had full faith in him. When people talk like that because of my friendship with Dhoni, I played in Team India, it hurts a lot. I have always worked hard to make my place in Team India. It is through hard work that I won Dhoni’s trust and respect.

Let us tell you that Raina played 18 Tests, 226 ODIs and 78 T20 International matches for India in his 13-year long international career. During this, he scored a total of 7988 runs, including 6 centuries. He scored centuries in all three formats of cricket.
