New Delhi. Ram Navami is an important Hindu festival, celebrated every year on the ninth day of the bright half of the month of Chaitra. This year Ram Navami will be celebrated on 30 March. Hindus celebrate Rama Navami to honor the birth of Lord Rama. Navratri starts from Pratipada of Shukla Paksha of Chaitra month and eight forms of Goddess are worshipped. With this, the festival of Ram Navami is celebrated on the ninth day. Ram Navami is celebrated to commemorate the birth of Lord Rama to King Dasaratha, the king of Ayodhya. On the day of Ram Navami, Lord Ram is worshiped with rituals. Temples are decorated, drums beat and devotees celebrate the birth of Lord Rama. The day of Ram Navami is considered very auspicious. Importance of Ram Navami
Lord Rama was the seventh incarnation of Lord Vishnu. He established a welfare state for his people and set an example for all to follow. He was devoid of greed, hatred and vices and stood up for what was right, against powerful adversaries, and protected the weak. Devotees pray for peace, wealth and success on this day and seek the blessings of Lord Rama. Many people also perform Kanya Pujan on this day, in which nine girls representing the nine forms of Goddess Durga are worshipped. Some devotees bathe the idols of Lord Rama. They worship Lord Rama by lighting a lamp in front of him.

Ram Navami worship method
On the day of Ram Navami, take a bath early in the morning and wear clean clothes.
Place the child form of Lord Rama in the swing.
Place mango leaves and coconut on a kalash.
Offer incense, lamp, fruits, flowers, clothes and ornaments to Lord Rama.
Offer sweets, kheer, halwa, jaggery and sugar to Lord Ram.
In the end recite Vishnu Sahastranam and perform aarti of Lord Vishnu.
