'Retain Virat Kohli': RP Singh gives direct advice to RCB ahead of IPL 2025 mega auction

Former Indian cricketer RP Singh has advised IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore that they should retain Virat Kohli and drop everyone else from the team. Virat has been a strong player for the Bangalore-based franchise as he won the Orange Cap and scored 741 runs in 15 matches.

Speaking to Colors Cineplex, RP said that Kohli should remain with the team as players like Mohammed Siraj and Rajat Patidar can come back into the team with the help of RTM card.

“I think he has no problem. They will just retain Virat Kohli, drop everyone else and use RTM. If we look at the value, taking Rajat Patidar as an example, will we be able to buy him in the auction for more or less than Rs 11 crore?” He said.

“I think you will buy Rajat Patidar at a lower price. So you can get them back in the auction. Even if it goes closer to Rs 11 crore, you have RTM which you can use there,” said RP Singh. “Siraj, performance-wise, you have to reassess whether you will be able to get him close to Rs 11 crore or not. I don't think Siraj will be able to reach close to 14 crores. “They will always have the option that if it gets there, you can use RTM.” This Bangalore-based franchise has star players like Faf du Plessis, Glenn Maxwell, Cameron Green and Will Jacques. “Therefore they should move forward with a new mindset. They need Virat, he has contributed a lot to the franchise, and Virat is also the most important player. So they should think about building a team around them, or with a new idea. Apart from Virat Kohli, I don't see any other player worth Rs 18 or Rs 14 crore in this team,” said RP Singh.
