SAAF Senior Athletics Championships postponed to 2025

South Asian Athletics Federation (SAAF) Senior Athletics Championships 2024 has been postponed to 2025, Athletics Federation of India confirmed on Thursday.

The tournament was scheduled from 04th to 06th October in Ranchi, Jharkand.

“South Asian Athletics Federation (SAAF) Senior Athletics Championships, previously scheduled to take place in Ranchi, Jharkhand from 04-06 October 2024, have been postponed to 2025. The revised dates will be announced as soon as finalised,” the letter signed by AFI secretary Raviner Chaudhary stated addressing all the affiliated units of AFI.

Earlier this month, the Junior SAAF Championships was conducted in Chennai with India taking the top honours.

India bagged 48 medals in the three-day event, including 21 golds, 22 silvers and 5 bronze. Sri Lanka finished with a respectable 35 medals (9 gold, 9 silver, 17 bronze)

While India dominated the majority of the events, Sri Lanka shone bright in the track events winning gold in sprint events. They also won the 4x400m relay and 4x100m relay in the men’s category.

Deepika Kumari in Javelin Throw, Jay Kumar in 400m, and Sharuk in 3000m stood out as performers for India.
