The National Career Service (NCS) was launched by PM Modi in 2015 which provides career counselling, vocational guidance, information on skill development courses, apprenticeship and internships, through a digital platform. NCS basically helps job seekers and recruiters. NCS is operated by the Ministry of Labour and Employment.

According to the NCS website, there are 26,27,436 active employers listed on the platform and 12,79,902 active vacancies.

National Career Service Components

  • Registration is carried out online through Aadhaar-based authentication and free of charge.
  • Career centres: Due to any reason if job seekers can’t register online they can register at these centres.
  • Users will receive job notifications, career counselling, can participate in  job fairs, and other employment services.
  • In case you face any difficulties in online registration ot have any queries, the multilingual call centre can help you. The centre works Tuesday to Sunday, 8 am to 8 pm.
  • Candidates can learn new skills and enroll for free courses through NCS.
  • Users can also find internship and apprenticeship opportunities on the NCS portal.

How to Register ON NCS Portal ?

Users need to create a profile. Check the below steps to register on NCS portal:

1: Go to the NCS portal www.ncs.gov.in

2: You will see a login option on the right side of the page, below which you can see “Sign In” and  “Sign Up” options, first time users need to click on ‘sign up’ option.

3: It will take you to the next page, wherein you need to select the “Register As” option in the drop down. then, select the ‘Jobseeker’ option from the drop-down list.

4: It will open a registration form, wherein you need to fill the details like Unique Identification Number (Anything out of Pan card, Voter’s Identity Card, Passport, Driving License, or UAN Number)

5: Check all the details again and, enter the Captcha code and tick on the checkbox “I agree to terms and conditions” and then click on the “Submit” button.

6:After the successful registration, you will receive an OTP on your registered mobile number. Enter the OTP to verify your registration.
