SGPC honored hockey player Germanpreet Singh with Rs 5 lakh, this honor was given for being a proven Sikh player.

Amritsar: Germanpreet Singh, the accomplished Sikh player of the Indian hockey team that won the bronze medal in the Paris Olympics, was specially honored by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC). The internal committee of Shiromani Committee had decided to specially honor the proven Sikh player. Shiromani Committee Chairman Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami honored Germanpreet Singh by giving him Guru Bakshish Siropao, gold model of Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib and a check of Rs 5 lakh. Along with this, runner Amarpreet Singh, who hails from Haryana, was also given an honorarium of Rs 1 lakh. This young man, running away from Ambala, has reached Shri Akal Takht Sahib after paying obeisance at various Gurudwara Sahibs. On the occasion of honoring the players, Advocate Dhami said that Shiromani Gurdwara Management Committee is running its sports academies to inspire the youth towards sports. Along with this, if any proven Sikh player achieves great achievements in the field of sports, then he is specially honored by the Shiromani Committee. Its objective is to encourage Sikh youth to take up sports.

Advocate Dhami inspired the youth to learn and move forward. On this occasion, hockey player Germanpreet Singh thanked the Shiromani Committee for the honor and said that this gives a lot of encouragement to Sikh players. He also appealed to the youth to remain positive and make sports a part of their lives.
