Shubman Gill gives major update on his injury before pink-ball Test against Australia
Shubman Gill was seen in the nets for the first time after suffering a finger injury in the intra-squad warm-up match between India and India A before the series opener in Perth. He said that his first net session, after a long time, went better. He is in line to play the second contest of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.
“It was my first day, and I was trying to get a feel and see how the injury was reacting or if there was any soreness. It went better than what Kamlesh bhai (physio) and I had expected. I am very happy with the outcome,” Shubman Gill said.
Ddevdutt Padikkal had replaced Gill for the Perth Test and managed 0 and 25 runs across two innings. However, India won the game by 295 runs.
Gill also expressed happiness about India’s victory at the Optus Stadium. “I was disappointed when I was injured, as Perth is the only venue where I didn’t play when we came here on the previous tour. The way we played the contest made me happy in the end,” he added.
India will take on the Prime Minister’s XI in a two-day warm-up match with the pink ball.
