Sohail Ahmed talks about Diljit Dosanjh admiration for NFAK
Sohail Ahmed, a well-known Pakistani actor, comedian, and host, recently spoke about Diljit Dosanjh’s admiration for the legendary Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.
Ahmed, who has made a mark in both television and film with roles in dramas like Jeevan Nagar and Chaudhry and Sons, as well as movies like Punjab Nahi Jaungi and Jawani Phir Nahi Aani 2, shared insights into the respect Dosanjh holds for the late singer.
During a recent media appearance, Sohail Ahmed recalled how Diljit would always express deep reverence for Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.
He mentioned, “Whenever I brought up Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan in conversation with Diljit, he would lower his gaze and say, ‘I’ve never encountered an artist like him. I’ve listened to music from all over the world, but I can’t fathom who he was—he was beyond comprehension.’”
Sohail further emphasized how Indian artists, including Diljit, hold Pakistani poetry and culture in high regard.
They often praise the rich heritage of Pakistani music and its profound impact on their own work.
He questioned why local talent isn’t celebrated at home, pointing out that icons like Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan were revered in their time, even when performing in local venues like Lahore’s Data Darbar.
Earlier, A recent clip of Diljit performing in Manchester went viral, featuring him saluting a Pakistani flag he saw in the audience.
In another video from the same event, he called a fan of his who wears hijabi on stage and gave her a signed boxed gift , requesting an autograph and finding out her origins.
The fan said, “Pakistan,” to which Diljit answered with a line that struck a deep chord with his audience—particularly his Pakistani supporters. “There ought to be a loud cheer!” he exclaimed.
