New Delhi: The Tata group will now replace Chinese mobile maker Vivo as the main sponsor of the IPL. It will start from this season. According to the report of PTI, IPL President Brijesh Patel has made this announcement. According to reports, the decision regarding the change in the IPL sponsorship was taken in the league's governing council meeting on Tuesday.

In such a situation, now the league will be known as TATA IPL. In the year 2020, Vivo withdrew from the main sponsor of IPL amid anti-China wave in India. At that time Dream-11 was the sponsor of IPL for one year. However, in 2021, the Vivo company again returned as the main sponsor. According to the report of 'Cricbuzz', Vivo has decided to distance itself from IPL-2022.

VIVO and BCCI had tied up for IPL title sponsorship in 2018. Under this, the company was to give 440 crores to BCCI every year. This agreement was to end after the IPL-2023 season. However, both the parties decided to part ways before mutual consent. Although the initial agreement between BCCI and VV was for five years from 2018 to 2022, but due to a one-year break in between, it was extended till 2023.

IPL is going to change from 2022

Cricket's biggest league tournament IPL will also see major changes from the 2022 season. Apart from the main sponsor, two more new teams - Lucknow and Ahmedabad - are going to be added to the IPL. Also this time there is to be a mega auction of the players.

However, due to the Corona epidemic, both the previous seasons of IPL have been affected a lot. The 2020 season where held in the UAE. At the same time, last year also some matches of the season were done in India and then the rest of the matches were done later in UAE.
