RCB’s Thrilling Win Over Delhi Capitals, Know More Here!
After a stormy half-century by AB de Villiers, Mohammed Siraj’s patient bowling in the final over helped Royal Challengers Bangalore reach the top of the IPL points table by defeating Delhi Capitals by one run.
RCB’s team also broke the order of four consecutive defeats against Delhi Capitals. De Villiers smashed an unbeaten 75 off 42 balls with five sixes and three fours, helping the Bangalore team to 171 for five. Apart from them, Rajat Patidar (31) and Glenn Maxwell (25) also played useful innings. Bangalore managed to add 77 runs in the last seven overs. De Villiers also achieved the feat of completing 5000 runs in the lowest balls in the IPL during this innings.
In response, Delhi team Shimron Hetmyer (25 balls, 53 not out, four sixes, two fours) with a stormy half-century and an unbroken 78-run partnership in 7.2 overs with captain Rishabh Pant (58 not out) for four in 20 overs. Only 170 runs could be scored. In the final over of Siraj, Delhi needed 14 runs but the team could only score 12 runs.
With this win, Bangalore have 10 points from five wins in six matches and the team is on top. Delhi’s team is in third place with eight points from four wins in the same number of matches. The bowlers also gave the Bangalore team a good start. Shikhar Dhawan was caught by Yuzvendra Chahal at fine leg boundary off Kyle Jameson after scoring just six runs, while Steve Smith (04) caught Mohammad Siraj off wicketkeeper de Villiers. Opener Prithvi Shaw (21) hit Siraj for three fours, but was caught by de Villiers in an attempt to tamper with the ball that went too far from Harshal Patel’s off side.
Captains Rishabh Pant and Marcus Stoinis had trouble getting into the rhythm in the beginning. The team scored 62 runs for three wickets in 10 overs. Pant also hit Harshal for two consecutive fours in the 13th over. Harshal, however, caught Stoinis at the hands of de Villiers in the same over. Hetmyer completed the century of the team’s runs in the 15th over with sixes and fours off Siraj’s consecutive balls. Delhi needed 61 runs to win in the last five overs. Hetmyer was lucky when his easy catch was dropped by a pedicel off Jameson. Delhi’s team could only manage 15 runs in the next two overs, for which the team needed 46 runs in the last three overs. Hetmyer completed his half-century in just 23 balls. Siraj had to stop the Delhi batsmen from scoring 14 runs in the last over. Siraj conceded just two runs in the first three balls. Pant scored two and four runs on the next two balls, which required six runs to win the last ball. Pant, however, could only score four runs off the last ball.
Earlier, Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant won the toss and decided to bowl first, after which Bangalore did not have a good start. Devadatta Paddikal opened the account with a four on Ishant, while Kagiso Rabada also hit the four. Paddikal was lucky in Ishant’s next over when Akshar Patel dripped his catch at mid-on.
However, after scoring 12 runs off 11 balls, Kohli played on Avesh’s ball for wickets, while on the next ball, Ishant bowled Paddikal who scored 17 runs in 14 balls. After losing two wickets in two balls, Bangalore’s team could score 36 runs for two wickets in the power play. Maxwell hit the sixes on spinner Amit Mishra and Akshar, bringing the team’s score to 50 runs in the eighth over. Maxwell catches Steve Smith at long on in an attempt to land another six on Mishra. Patidar and de Villiers then pushed the innings forward. Patidar smashed Mishra and Ishant, hitting sixes and completed the century of the team’s runs in the 14th over. De Villiers also hit a six on the letter, but Patidar was caught by Smith at long on in an attempt to hit a six on this left-arm spinner. Patidar hit two sixes in 22 balls. De Villiers hit a four and a six on Rabada, but this fast bowler caught Washington Sundar (06) on his own ball and gave the Bangalore team a fifth blow. De Villiers completed a 35-ball half-century with a four on a charge and then brought the team’s score to 150 with a six off the second ball of Marcus Stoinis in the final over.Scream Can Make You Mentally Fit, You Will Be Surprised To Know How?
