The Indian women’s hockey team lost in the semi-final match at the 2022 Commonwealth Games being played in Birmingham. Australia defeated the Indian team 3-0 in the shoot out. With this, the Australian team has reached the final for the fifth consecutive time. The Indian team may have been eliminated from the gold medal race, but they can still win the bronze medal.
Earlier this match ended in a 1-1 draw. After this a shoot out was played to get the result of the match. In which the Australian team won 3-0. However, poor umpiring was also responsible for India’s defeat. India saved the first goal in the shoot-out, but then it was discovered that the clock had not started and Australia were given a second chance. After this, the Indian team was left behind.
In this match, the Australian team took a 1-0 lead over India till half time. The only goal for Australia was scored by Rebecca Graner in the 10th minute. However, after this, the Indian team scored the first goal in the fourth quarter. Vandana Kataria scored the goal for India. With this, the match is tied at 1-1. This is Vandana’s fourth goal in the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
