New stadium will be built by 2029

The new stadium will have a spectator capacity of between 35,000 and 45,000 and will primarily host football matches. The Shah Alam Sports Complex project is estimated to be completed by 2029. The stadium has played an important role in Malaysian sports since its opening. However, it has been neglected for a long time, after which it is finally being demolished.

There was once the world's largest stadium

Let us tell you that this stadium, built 30 years ago with a capacity of 80 thousand spectators, was once the largest stadium in the world, but in 2020 it was considered completely bad. After this, the Malaysian government planned to build a new stadium in its place within a year. The original Shah Alam Stadium began construction on 1 January 1990 and was officially opened on 16 July 1994. An exhibition match was held at the stadium on 29 July 2008 between the Malaysia Select team and Chelsea, where the English team managed to win the match 2–0 thanks to goals from Nicolas Anelka and Ashley Cole.
